| :: Knife Party & Dance Hall Membership @ Call The Office by: Andrew (Thursday It was a windy cold night and I was on my way to a knife party. I have only been to one knife party before this one. I was very pleased that this Knife Party used strong vocals, great guitar work and an adrenaline-infused drummer rather than knives and blood. I am definitely a fan of the band name. The two covers (particularly the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Y-factor) didn’t really cut it for me. I really enjoyed the original songs. I am looking forward to hearing more from these guys. The next band Dancehall Membership really stood out right from the start. They had a smidgen of an early Jawbreaker sound. The songs varied from low-high tempo but all retained a “sing a long” feel to them. The lyrics were smart, sincere and well delivered. Their sound is certainly distinctive. Dancehall membership has a sound to call their own for sure. I am always admiring of a band that pays a great deal of attention to the depth of every song. This is the case here for sure. charlemagne did not play, unless they went on after dancehall membership, in which case, we appologize for the lack of review. |
