:: S2G (S/t) EP by Seconds To Go
by: Andrew (Friday, October 01)

It may be a tad premature to review S2G's EP because it is an EP, and their full-length album will be released by Antagonist Records in February 2005. S2G will put London, Ontario on the map - I'll bet money on it. After 13 years together legendary punk-revival band Face To Face have called it quits. This is important because lead vocalist Trevor Keith will not be leaving music; rather than being on the forefront Trevor has decided to start his own label and contribute to music behind the scenes. The first band signed to Antagonist records is S2G. Upon a debut release there will most likely be intense critical pressure to "fill the shoes" of Face To Face for S2G. There's no doubt S2G will live up to the hype surrounding their release, or even surpass critical expectations. Vocalist Nick Harris literally has the perfect punk rock voice, which seems to come with little effort. S2G take you back to the old punk rock genre; they have a mature sound that is not simply some teenage-angst-ridden punk rock. S2G will immediately fall within the ranks of punk-revival. Their sound is melodic punk-revival, agressive, cathortic, raucous, irreverent, energetic and rambunctious. Although, combined with Nick's voice the harshness is somehow enlightened. There's a subtle scream in Nick's voice, but at the same time strong emotion that counters the darkness so to speak. S2G have huge potential and I'm eager to hear a full-length release. In the meantime, S2G are doing some local shows... make sure you witness S2G live, they may be the leaders of a new wave of punk rock.
