| :: The Miracle Worker @ The Palace Theatre by: $var (Thursday I wish I had more time to write a lengthy description of this play, but there are really only a few performances left, and the longer I sit on this, the less time you will have to know about and go see "The Miracle Worker". Thearter Soup's adaptation of the Pulizer Prize and Tony award winning play by William Gobson, has rightfully been getting rave revievs with the LFP media section. The story of deaf and blind child Helen Keller, who by means of Annie Sullivan, learns language. All the charaters are well built, and all the actors well suit their roles, however the performances given by Anne-Marie Caicco (Annie Sullivan) and Meaghan Chenosky (Helen Keller) stand out above the rest. Their relationship on stage is unconventional in that it is very physical, we see the struggle of both characters in an effort to communicate with eachother. One particular scene depicts Ani teaching Helen manners, completely against Helen's wishes. This 10 minute scene is high energy as Helen is disobeident and throws a physically demanding temper tantrum, forcing Ani's reaction to be overpowering. The show runs until Saturday December 18th at Palace Theater, 710 Dundas St. East. The play runs from 8-10:30 and is well worth the $15 ticket price. Take someone special out for a night of theater with this wonderful story of determination and hope. |
