This show was a benefit for a youth group and the group's name was mentioned numerous times and I can't remember it. The show was a great success, an equal number of youth and the ususal CTO crowd goers were present. Performing for a youth benefit makes you number one in my books, but each band really was great. The BasTiD SoNz hit the stage second and loosened up the crowd with some ska/punk. The openers Hollywood Matinee were a little nervous, but they were still able to joke around with the crowd. The lead singer has an incredible vocie. I'm at a loss for words about these two bands and Staylefish.... I defiently recommend checking them out however. Depending on your musical taste you'll either love them or at a minimum enjoy their performance. Ruth's Hat, well I remember Ruth's Hat playing when I was a youth. RH is still rocking out. I may be confusing my history, but I think I "learned" how to dance at a RH's show at CTO some years ago. Seeing RH again made me feel warm inside. Bring your dancing shows whenever RH are playing. Lolita Police blew me away, I fucking love them so much I want them to have my babies. I remember seeing them some years back (maybe 2 or 3) at the R&C (now Alex P Keaton). These boys can pull off a mellow acoustic set, or they can turn their acoustic set into something crazy. Seriously, I didn't know acoustic guitars could make such sounds... especially without breaking some strings. Aside from rocking out all over each other and the stage, LP can calm it down and pull of a lo-fi song that usually only sound good on recordings. If you haven't seen the LP you HAVE to, no joke. Aaron and Blair create something beautiful together... they also make me feel warm inside. |
