:: Chasing Arcadia, Icewater, Random Piece @ Call The Office

I have to admit I wasn't too exicted for this show. I had an early class in the morning and would have preferred to be sleeping. However, literally one minute into Toronto based "Random Piece" I was ordering a beer to celebrate what I was hearing. RP have great stage presence. Lead singer Jay McCarty is full of engery and rocks out nicely with an acoustic guitar. A strong bass line is evident in all of their songs and the band takes advantage of this by moving along to the rhythm. Jay is an eccentric character, after a few songs RP had captured the full attention of the CTO crowd. Headliners "Chasing Arcadia" played next, allowing the crowd favourite "Icewater" to end the show. CA do not have a strong stage presence physically like RP, but they don't need it. CA's music speaks for itself, and more importantly lead singer Darryl McCarty is a guitar genius. There were numerous moments when I felt that if I closed my eyes my mind would automatically recall an image of Angus Young to match what I was hearing. Just like RP, shortly after taking the stage the crowd had to ackowledge CA's talent. These guys were able to pull of a number of guitar solos without being boring. If you want to witness some pure rock and roll check out CA next time they're around. When "Icewater" took the stage a fair number of fans moved to stand right in front of the stage. The crowd and the band simultaneously fed off the other's energy. The music was loud, but it was no match for vocalist Ike Moore's screaming. "Icewater" need a larger venue to accomadate for their loud rock and intense vocals.
