Local scene veterans, Seconds To Go, are pleased to announce the release of their much anticipated debut album. To mark this occasion, the band will be showcasing material from the album at their official CD release show Friday, August 18th at Call The Office.

   The Architects (Ottawa) and Chasing Mercury will open the show.

Seconds To Go has weathered years of uncertainty and frustration in regards to the release of their debut album. After signing on with American label, Antagonist Records, the band recorded a full-length album that was never released due to some unforeseen circumstances surrounding the label. Upstart Canadian label, Pop Culture Records, soon acquired the rights to the Canadian release and the band hit the studio once again to record some newer material.

    Despite the years of uncertainty, S2G has remained positive throughout, and this attitude has profoundly impacted their songwriting. Sounding more focused and immediate than ever, Seconds To Go is anxious to hit the stage with their explosive live show.

~`','`~

> When was the band formed?  Over 5 years ago.

> By whom?
  Jesus…haha

> Could you list the band members names and instruments etc…?

:: Jake Proctor: drums,
:: Chance Hutchison: Bass/backing vocals,
:: Nick Harris: Vocals, Jordan Sears:
:: Guitar/backing vocals,
:: Graeme Mack: Guitar

> Have there been any member switches?
:: No.  We are the same lineup from the day we formed.

> You’ve toured with Face to Face across a good portion of North America.  What is the biggest difference you notice when on tour in the U.S. vs. Canada?
:: Well first of all, the beer in Canada actually gets you drunk.  In the US you need to switch to whisky to get you there.  Aside from that, we were surprised as to how accepting the crowds in the states were.  Especially for it being our first time there.

> Where, when, and with whom did you record the album?

:: We recorded the majority of the record in London ON with Siegfried Meier.  Some of it was recorded in Los Angeles.  We did a full length record there, but we never released it.  The songs used from those sessions have been almost completely re-recorded, but we kept a few things.

> You released “This Door” to the public ear over a year ago, what caused the long turnover time between the early tracks and full completion and distribution of the record?

 Thats a good question.  When we signed a deal with Antagonist records, Trever Keith brought us to LA to produce our first full length and prepared to release the record shortly after the Face to Face farewell tour.  We were stoked to be getting the record out and had built up a lot of momentum.  We put about 5000 samplers from the record out throughout the states and Canada, shot a video, put songs out on two Vagrant compilations, and were ready to release the record.  After all that, Antagonist’s distro deal fell through and we got screwed.  We released This Door and Stark independently in a split record with Kover.  It took us almost two years to get ourselves back on track and made Pop culture records our home here in Canada.  They will be releasing the new record.  The record will come out in the US this winter.

> How did you end up getting signed to Antagonist?
:: I was at the Face to Face show here in London about 3 years ago and handed Trever a demo.  Shortly after we received an email from Rich Egan at Vagrant.  They met with us at warped tour that summer and offered us a deal with Trever’s new label he was starting.

> Aside from the band, what do you all do?  Jobs? School? Nintendo? Collect bottles in London and smuggle them to Buffalo for refund cash?

:: Party, girls, tunes, shitty day jobs in between tours, party, I’m baked, practice a lot, write, films, party.

> Who does most of the writing for the band? And what are the main lyrical influences drawn upon when writing a song?
:: Sears brings the original idea to the band.  We all work on the structure and develop our own parts.  I write the lyrics.  As for lyrical influences, I write about life and experiences, but then give them a twist.  I like people to have to think a bit.

> Hypothetical: You’re taking an 8hr car ride to Montreal tomorrow.  What CD’s do you bring?
:: 8 hours…wow.  Well here are a few anyway…Dillinger Escape Plan “Miss Machine”, The strokes records, Saves the Day “through being cool” , something dancy…Royksopp or daft punk, The new Bronx, some In Flames, Taking back Sunday “Louder Now”, Tom Petty “Full Moon Fever”.

> What artists most influence your writing/music?
:: We listen to everything.  So I guess we’re influenced by a ton of people.  We admire anyone that’s doing something different and something that has soul.

> A lot of bands are posting entire albums online for download at equal, or slightly lesser prices than buying the actual CD. What is your view on this? Do people no longer want the whole ‘package’ that comes with a CD?
:: Its just that people can get the record online easily and unfortunately, nowadays people don’t care about artwork and layouts.  The layout isn’t everything, but theres something really cool about making the trip to a record store to pick up the actual record.

> Will you tour outside of North America to promote the new CD?
:: We will once we land licensing deals in other countries.  Then we plan on touring everywhere its released.
